Something fishy

On August 14, a group of enthusiastic members and partners from the Hobart Probus (Men’s) Club were shown around the IMAS fisheries research facility in Taroona, a southern suburb of Hobart.

The group was shown the salmon research facility and the associated research being undertaken, and the exciting progress being made to grow lobster to commercial size for production and the associated success in growing Moreton Bay Bugs as a commercial product.

A talk from a PHD candidate on her research into sea-life showed the group the breadth of interest and the commitment of the scientists to their projects. The Club appreciated the opportunity during Science Week to have this rare chance to visit this facility.
