Trans Alpine train journey to Greymouth

12 members from Roydvale Probus Club had an enjoyable trip on the Trans Alpine to Greymouth for a 2 day journey.

Some of the Roydvale Probus members met at the railway station at 7.30 in the morning, but the chilly morning made for more spectacular scenery as they travelled on the Trans Alpine to Greymouth.

On the second day the group headed to the Treetops Walk 15 minutes south of Hokitika. A few tested their fitness by walking up the hill and others cruised on a golf buggy. All members loved the experience walking 20m above the forest, along the elevated steel platform.

On the last day Roydvale members viewed a replica sawmill, sluicing for gold and actively panned for gold, bringing home a tiny vial of a few grains each.

Its breath taking journey and worth repeating.
