Outback Adventures

Kareela Probus Club members had a great time on their nine-day trip to the Queensland Outback. There were activities to suit everyone, from exploring dinosaur footprints at Lark Quarry to visiting microbats in the Capricorn Caves. Geologists enjoyed the sapphire mine tour and an opal shop visit, while historians loved the Waltzing Matilda Museum, Qantas Founders Museum and Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame.

Nature lovers were in their element, spotting brolgas, kites, wedge-tailed eagles, emus, turtles, kangaroos and pigs. Entertainment lovers enjoyed the Drover’s Sunset Cruise and Smithy’s Outback Dinner in Longreach.

One of the highlights was a visit to Camden Park Station where third generation grazier Dan gave the group a tour of his property and shared firsthand experiences of life in the outback.
