Barefoot bowls

On a sunny day, 47 keen members from the Probus Club of Rochedale found their way to the Mt Gravatt Bowls Club for ‘barefoot bowls’.

Members were greeted by the Club Manager, Julie, who introduced everyone to club volunteers Ian and Henry. They organised members into groups of six, showed them where to collect their boxes of bowls and directed them to their indoor rinks.

Luckily, some members knew the rules of the game and along with Ian and Henry the fun began. At first there were bowls crossing into other teams’ games but eventually members managed to understand the sport. There was lots of laughter and cheering.

After two hours of bowling, it was time for a well-earned drink and lunch. The day was enjoyed by all.
