Covid 19 Restrictions 2021

This year our programme has been severely impacted by the ongoing lockdowns which have made forward planning very difficult.  As the level of restrictions varies, each month different activities have had to be cancelled, while others have been able to go ahead.  The Committee makes every endeavour to keep members up to date through the newsletter, email, phone calls and even letter drops, but if you are uncertain as to whether an event is taking place, please contact a Committee member for confirmation.

We meet at 10.00 on the third Tuesday of each month in the hall of the Blackburn Uniting Church, which is on the corner of Blackburn Road and The Avenue. (Melway 47, K10) This is a short walk from Blackburn Station and readily accessible by public transport.

Monthly meetings take the form of Committee reports on different aspects of the club's program to keep our members up to date, followed by morning tea and a chance to chat.  We then regroup to listen to the invited speaker.  The Meeting concludes at 12.00, when all members are welcome to join us for lunch at a nearby hotel.

Apart from the monthly meeting, various activities which reflect the interest of group members are organised

  • Ramblers who go on a different walk around a nearby park each month and then enjoy a BYO lunch together
  • Theatre visits, both local and in the city
  • Solo
  • A gardening group
  • Weekly coffee groups include Birthday Belles and The Coffee Club
  • Half day and full day outings each month to a place of interest
  • Dine outs on the months where there is a fifth Tuesday
  • Popular books are available for our keen readers to borrow from our library
  • Monthly trade table with produce, plants and bric a brac available

Happy Knitters

The ladies in the Craft group enjoy nothing more than the clicking of needles and some good conversation.  This is the result of their latest donation of knitted goods to The Cottage by the Sea, which provides a beach holiday for children who have never enjoyed this experience.  Ann Catchpole gratefully accepted 52 rugs, 38 mittens, 15 scarves, 19 beanies and one little teddy which will bring much pleasure to these deserving children.  A great effort Ladies!
