It is our Christmas lunch celebration at North Ryde RSL Club held on Monday 12th December 2016. It was well attended by 52 of our Members who were entertained by the 3 Jingle Belles singing traditional Christmas Carols while Members enjoyed a delicious lunch.

The induction of new Member Margaret Huntington and welcoming  Les Kay back into the club after a few years absence from the Vice President Judy Thomas (microphone) and President Jill King. The club was pleased to welcome  6 visitors at our September meeting.

Mr Bob Willis telling us about his life as a Marine Engineer in the Merchant Navy in our segment This is your Life at our monthly meeting.  An extremely interesting fact which he  informed us about was that his family were the "official tasters" for the development of a new drink product called  Milo in 1934 at the Nestlé  plant located in Kempsey NSW. The amazing things, we learn from and about our Members.

Getting to know our Members better over  lunch after meeting.

Our Members being enlightened about how to enjoy life by Guest Speaker Mr Kim Hewitt at the July Meeting

Our Guest Speaker Ms Stephanie Vidler from Lane Cove Podiatry and Sports Podiatry [9420 4673] informed the Members  of the importance of caring for our feet and stressing how important it is to exercise daily and to do balancing exercises to ensure our general health and balance is maintained to prevent falls.  Apparently, one in three hospitalisations are as the result of falls. Stephanie has 30 years' experience in podiatry and she informed us of the three fundamentals to check for in footwear....shoes should be firm at the back of your foot to support the ankle, flexible under the ball of your foot so you can feel the ground and have laces or Velcro to support the top of the foot.  She stressed shoes have to hold onto you not you holding onto them. e.g. when wearing thongs or the fashionable ballet flats.  Stephanie  imparted her information in an entertaining manner which hopefully will inspire our Members to consider her words and do their exercises?  She stressed all bones, muscles and ligaments connected and must be maintained for a healthy body.
