Keep on walkin'

Conder Lanyon Probus Club celebrated Probus’ 40th anniversary by holding a walkathon and BBQ in March.

The Probians planned to walk around Point Hut Pond, a distance of 2.3 kilometres per lap, and for the Club to complete 40 laps. This was then followed by a BBQ for all members.

By 11.30am, the BBQ was under way and an astonishing 89 laps had been walked by 19 people. Special mention must be made to Jan Petrie, who finished with a total of 19 laps or 43.7 kilometres.

Jeremy Harden dragged June Sutton to the lake at 7.30am to record all the laps, although some walkers had been out from 6 am under torch light. In all, 35 members joined together at the BBQ and despite a troublesome wind, ate up a storm.
