Combined Probus Club of Barossa Caravan and Camping Group

Twenty six members of the club travelled to Wallaroo from Friday May 1st to the North Beach Caravan Park which is owned by the local Copper Coast Council and operated by two energetic young families, Michael, Emma, Arron and Caitlin.
The entry was through the northern ring road around the new marina which sports many very new and imposing homes, especially those with waterfront access!
The first few days there the weather was balmy and the sea like glass however on Tuesday it turned foul and covered us all in sand. Some of us were fortunate to havesome protection from the wind however the corrugations on the en-suite rooves were filled with sand as well as the cars having sand piled on them.
The official Saturday night dinner was held at the Prince Edward Hotel where we had an enjoyable meal. Each day we seemed to find something to do and see given that the three towns of Kadina, Wallaroo and Moonta are all within a short driving distance.
Happy hours were part of the usual fare and were held in varying places depending on the weather. The front lawn if front of our co-ordinators ‘cabin’ was the location before the wind turned to the west and blew a gale! We then retreated to the games room where some played card games out of the wind. Monday night the Managers put on a barbeque for us and they supplied and cooked the meat—very generous of them—and the ladies provided salads and sweets.
Special thanks go to Jim and Di-anne for bringing fresh Prawns and Oysters for nibbles before the BBQ, Wow! They can come again!!! Needless to say no one went hungry or if they did it was their own fault!
Tuesday night was $10 schnitzel night at the Prince Edward so those of us who remained trotted down there for a humungous meal!
Wednesday lunchtime the group met at the Pt Broughton pub for lunch—again another very large meal– lovely fish.
We were all astounded by the huge housing development that has gone on in that area in recent times.
