Striking gold

This is one of the magnificent examples of silo art seen by the Gold Creek Probus Club during its recent six-day tour organised by the Linga Longa Tour company, based in Yarrawonga, Victoria.

This example of a World War I nurse and Light Horseman is at Devenish, and was painted by Melbourne street artist Cam Scales for the 100th anniversary of the War’s end in 1918.

It was financed by the local community who raised $20,000 to fund the 20-metre-high mural of the nurse (and a matching image of a 2018 female military medic). The Light Horseman was added in 2019.
