Barefoot bowls

If your club is looking for a fun, outdoor and thoroughly enjoyable activity, you cannot go past a game of Barefoot Bowls.

That is what 24 members from Mosman Park Probus Club did earlier last month at Mosman Park Bowling Club, with its magnificent views over the Swan River. Most had never held a bowl in their hand, never mind walked on a rink before.

With a short briefing and partner allocations before we commenced battle, and fortified with coffee and cake freshly baked by our members, a brief practice session was in order. At least we learned how to despatch the bowl and in which direction!

Then the fun began and the serious business of trying to knock the opponents bowl into the ditch. Not quite. They are after all, Probus Ladies and Gentlemen!
