4WD Long Weekend Trip to the South Coast

The Probus Club of Tuggeranong joined Majura Ladies Probus Club in another adventure with Queanbeyan West Rotary Club’s 4WD group.

This time a combined number of twenty three Probarians spent a long weekend 13th – 15th November discovering areas of the south coast that we were unaware even existed. A convoy of eleven 4WD vehicles left Canberra sparkling clean and returned to Canberra pleasurably dirty. We stayed in very comfortable cabins in a holiday park and from there we travelled on weaving tracks to headlands that showcased breathtaking vistas of the shoreline of the coast.  We became youngsters once again travelling  on winding tracks through the bushland, weaving around a fallen tree, through bogs, dodging ditches and ruts and forging though clear streams, some shallow others not.

We were treated like royalty and we become firm friends with our Rotarian drivers and codrivers. The lavish morning teas, tasty lunches and dinners were not to be missed. As usual we were provided with booklets of information including detailed maps, history of the area and the people and anecdotes that make a trip even more interesting if that were possible. We maintained the maxim of the Probus culture, for we had loads of fun, fellowships flourished and we were certainly intellectually stimulated.

We have all forged fresh friendships and we agree that adventures such as this can be addictive.
