Introduction
Probus originated as an association of retired and semi-retired men.
The word PROBUS comes from the words PROfessional and BUSiness groups.
Probus is today a network of social clubs that provide retirees with the opportunity to connect socially, which is so important in today’s world. The purpose of the clubs is to provide regular gatherings for those who in retirement appreciate and value opportunities to meet others in similar circumstances and of a similar level of interest.
At an interest meeting sponsored by the Rotary Club of Grovedale Waurn Ponds on 14 February 2025 it was resolved to form the Armstrong Creek Probus Club.
The Foundation Officers of the club were:
President: Janice MacFarquhar
Vice President: David Wilson
2nd Vice President: Sam Clarke
Secretary: Suzanne Rich
Treasurer: Jacqueline Harrison
Committee Members: Jackie Travis, Paul Harrison, David Coles, Kerry Wilkins, Mickey Melcherts, Leanne Warren and Leanne Molony.
