At our May meeting we heard from Gladys Liu.  She gave a most interesting talk on life in Australia as a Chinese Australian.  She came alone as a tertiary student and has made her life here.  As a member of Federal Parliament she feels her job is to make welcome arrivals from other countries and to help them adjust to their new life in Australia.

The speaker for May was Lynette Milne.  She says "I retired from full time work 2 years ago, but was looking for something to do with my two dogs, a Border Collie (Mum's dog) and my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  I saw an advertisement in Dogs Victoria magazine regarding the Responsible Pet Ownership program. They were looking for owners and their dogs to participate.  Basically the owner and dog (after dog passing a suitability test) completes training, goes into kindergartens/schools to teach young children how to be safe around their dogs and how to remain safe around other dogs.
