It is my conclusion the cost of a coach from Deloraine to Latrobe for 24 members at $21.87 per head is too expensive via Mersey Link

If we could manage 40 passengers, the cost reduces to $14.60 per head.

The cost per passenger to Nietta at $29 /head on a 24 seater and at 40 passengers reduces to $19.50 /head.

Numbers are the key. We could invite friends and members of the Ladies Probus Club to join us on one or both occasions.

OPTIONS:

1. We carpool and travel to Latrobe for Christmas Dinner---- No Bus!

2. We get the numbers and book the larger coach for Latrobe

3. Dependent on numbers we take a coach to Nietta.

As the Club Administrative Director --  I  recommend the Club           subsidises the travel cost OR the cost of the meal.

If we have 40 passengers for each trip the coach cost would be $584 and $780 respectively == total coach cost of $1365.

1. Each member pays $10 per seat and the Club covers the balance $565

2. If we only had a coach for the Nietta trip (40 passengers) then the Club would pay $380 and for (24 passengers) $344.

3. Coach only for the Latrobe trip then (40 passengers) Club cost $584   and for 24 passengers $285.

4. Subsidise the Meal (for members only) at $10 per head for 30 members would be $300.

We could subsidise the meal or the travel costs, but probably not both.

Please consider this scenario before TUESDAY and give firm numbers for members and friends so a decision can be made to facilitate bookings.

WE MUST HAVE FIRM NUMBERS TO CONSIDER THE MOST APPROPRIATE OPTION!

 

 The assumption being the travel fee is $10 per head regardless of trip.

From the table we can see the cost to the club for each trip dependent on numbers.

Best scenario would be for the Club to give a subsidy of $10 per head for the Latrobe Dinner… Say $300

Then get 30 passengers for Nietta at $10 per head and the Club subsidy would d be $480

Therefore the Club subsidy covering both events would total $780.

What is the origin of Remembrance Day?

11 November is universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the First World War.

This conflict had mobi-lised over 70 million people and left between nine and 13 million dead and as many as one third of these with no grave. The allied nations chose this day and time for the commemoration of their war dead.At 11 am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare.

The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months. In November, the Germans called for an armistice (suspension of fighting) in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted the allied terms of unconditional surrender.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years and became universally associated with the remem-brance of those who had died in the war .
