Been There …. Done That

Card Sharks

A beautiful, sunny day with lots of laughter and chatter, especially from the 6 Canasta tables.  Ros A is settling into the fellowship and Robyn’s Mum, Beryl enjoyed her day with us on her visit from Melbourne.  Thanks to our morning tea providers this month for the delicious treats to help celebrate our monthly birthdays.

Huff & Puffers

A picture perfect Spring day turned out for our walk around the Native Plants Garden at Kareela, a very pleasant hour plus was spent admiring the native plants, trees and views.   We fortified ourselves with coffee and hot chocolate at the Kareela Shopping Centre.

Shady Business – Cronulla Arts Theatre

A great afternoon was had by our members who attended this great comedy play, complete with cast and stage crew to match.   Lots of laughs and intrigue throughout the performance.   We will be back for the next play for sure.

Rivercat Cruise & Luncheon

The weather put on its best Spring weather for our 39 Probus members on the trip up to Parramatta on the Rivercat, with the water sparkling under the sun and a variety of ships and pleasure craft out and about.  A delicious lunch was enjoyed by all at the Abbotsford Sydney Rowing Club, right on the waterfront, before our return back down our beautiful Harbour to Circular Quay and the train home.

Montville and Sunshine Coast Coach Tour

Forty three excited members boarded our luxury coach at Gymea and with our very capable and well known and knowledgeable driver, Stephen, we headed north for a wonderful 9 night holiday.  Members enjoyed each other’s company at nightly Happy Hour while we watched the beautiful sunsets and getting to know each other better.  Our group enjoyed a variety of activities, visiting the Mary Cairncross Park Rainforest, Maleny, The Buderim Ginger Factory and Macadamia Factory, Tea Tree Plantation, Eumundi Markets, Noosa a cruise down the river and around the canals, The Gold Coast and a cruise along the Nerang River.  The highlights were the Australia Zoo and the Outback Spectacular.   With all meals included we ate very well and were a little sad to come back home again, after such a fun and interesting trip.

Crafty Ladies

Between crochet scarfs and rugs, knitting squares, dolls for the hospital, joey pouches, cardigans and remembrance poppies, patchwork and quilling we still had time to chat, each and laugh.

Outing – Cremorne Cinema

The day to see the movie 'The Leisure Seeker" at the Cremorne Orpheum art deco theatre.  We enjoyed some nostalgic old movie musical items from an organ, which appeared and disappeared out of the stage floor and kept us humming and tapping along until the movie started. All in all, it was a fun outing with like-minded people. Thank you to our organisers Maureen and Judy.

Tours – Switzerland, Prague & River Cruise

Recently Kareela Probus members and friends holidayed in Europe. The exciting tour featured a 14 day journey through Switzerland where we witnessed stunning alpine scenery, several cog-rail train journeys high up into the panoramic Alps and some even enjoyed a snowstorm. The group sampled typical Swiss food including cheese, chocolate and a fondue. The group then travelled from Prague to Bratislava and on to Budapest and experienced many historic towns, interesting cultures and fabulous food. Then we enjoyed the highlight of the holiday, a wonderful, luxurious cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam along the Danube and Rhine rivers. The scenery was stunning, with great daily excursions to exciting local towns along the way. We were wined and dined like royalty and never once put our hands in our pockets.  The journey was made even more enjoyable due to the fabulous weather and more importantly, the wonderful friends that we travelled with. So much fun, friendship and fellowship, as only Probus members know how.

Book Club –  Never a dull moment as our ladies give their views on the interesting and varied books we read each month.  Interesting how some of the books are ones we say we would have never chosen to read, but have ended up thoroughly enjoying.   A great way to experience new styles of writing and topics.

Van Wrinklies - Our trip to Howlong was fabuluous.   I'd never heard of the town, but if proved a real gem.  The local Croquet Club invited us for a morning session and taught us how to play and we all got into the wring of it and are eager to pursue to game further back in Sydney.  Visits to the Whisky & Chocolate factory was fun, and our luncheon cruise on the River was most enjoyable.  Happy hour at the end of the day is always looked forward to as we share our memories of the day.

Monthly meeting, AGM
