Be Connected

One thing the Covid crisis has reminded us all of is that staying connected with family and friends is vital. Whether by phone, email, Face Time, Skype or Zoom, it has been a lifeline for so many and a comfort to nearly all of us.

But it has also reminded us that perhaps we are not as “tech savvy” as we would like to be.

The "Be Connected" website has been set up by the Australian Government to increase the confidence, skills and online safety of older Australians, empowering everyone to use the internet and everyday technology.

It goes right back to basics and steps you through choosing, setting up and knowing your device (whether Apple or Android). It has simple tutorials for computers, smartphones and tablets. It has an extensive list of topics, such as online banking, detail on security and scams, online shopping tips, getting started on your family ancestry, and games - just to name a few. And it is done in a really simple helpful way. The website also caters for more experienced users who may want to find out more about topics like using the Cloud, digital photography and smart home technology.

"Be Connected" is a really useful and user-friendly website for anyone wanting to get started or learn more about technology. Either follow the links below or type “Be Connected “ into your search bar and try it for yourself - you won't be disappointed.

You don’t have to register to access this learning resource, however if you register then the system will record your progress.
