Community Gateway was our Guest Speaker in May 2025
For over 35 years Community Gateway has been dedicated to providing aged care, disability support and home nursing to people in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Mid North Coast communities. From respite care to in-home care, transport assistance, cleaning services, outings and more, Community Gateway are committed to providing services that support both health, and mental and social wellbeing to people of all ages.
In April, Bruce Jeffery joined us for an impromptu talk on his experience as a past Member for Oxley.

Our guest speaker for November was Darrell Crilley who is a welfare coordinator for Kempsey RSL. Darrell spoke about the various war memorials around the Macleay region that pay respect to members of the Macleay community who gave their life for their country during wars. He spoke about memorials in Crescent Head, Gladstone, South West Rocks, Stuarts Point, Frederickton, Euroka and Willawarrin. Thank you Darrell for your thought provoking discussion. Our three-minute talk was given by Marjorie who provided snippets of her life spent in Robertson in the Southern Highlands, and various other regional towns including Baradine, Wauchope to commencing nursing training at Kempsey District Hospital.

Our guest speaker for October was Nola Turnbull from the Compassionate Care Group. Nola spoke about her life growing up in the region and her careers from nursing to aged care consultant. Nola is the author of the book Hawking Tales: My journey trekking outback Australia with my mother. She kindly provided our members with a signed copy of her book.
