Special Interest Groups

We have a wide range of other activities that we undertake, as follows:

AMERICAN CANASTA CARDS GROUP - Cheryl Huppatz

About half our members play cards, some of them twice a month. Various groups are organized to play for three hours in the afternoon or evening followed by a light afternoon tea or supper. The card groups are largely self-managed and several groups of a maximum of twelve players meet monthly in members homes.

MAHJONG GROUPS - Coordinator - Kath Thomson

We have a number of Mahjong groups playing at different times and venues. Contact the Club for information about joining one of the mahjong playing groups.

COFFEE and CHAT GROUP Coordinator - Bill Booth

Every second Friday of the month, a group meets at 9.30 am for coffee at Bon Bons Cafe in the Southlands Shopping Centre.
This may be followed by a movie, lunch or shopping, depending on the inclination of the attendees on the day.

BOOK CLUB GROUP Coordinator - Barbara Mitchinson

On the second Thursday of every second month, a group of members meet to review and discuss a nominated book.

MAJ-JONG GROUP - Coordinator - Noreen Snook

Mah-jong is held the 1st Tuesday of the month 7 – 9pm. If you’re interested in joining the Mah-jong Group

WALKING GROUP - Coordinator - Helen Birkbeck

The walking group meets Saturday mornings at a time and location advised in advance.

Following the walk, the group gets together for coffee/breakfast at either a café or a BBQ location nearby.

Non walkers are also most welcome to join the group after the walk for the morning breakfast activity. It is really great to see some new faces appearing in the walking group over the past few months. Everyone is welcome and you can walk as far or as short a distance as you like, it is just nice to get out in the open air and breathe in the day.

Note: If the weather is inclement – meet at car park under Mount Henry Bridge.

INTER-CLUB VISITS

Periodically there is the opportunity to visit other Clubs in WA in response to their invitations. You are also welcome to visit other interstate or international Clubs at your own initiative.

GETAWAYS

The Club occasionally organizes overnight Getaways. All accommodation, most meals and some transport are arranged by the Club.
The last Club getaway was to Cervantes (2.5 hours North of Perth) for a three night getaway adventure including a visit to the Lobster Shack, the Pinicales for a Champagne Sundowner beach walking and so much more.

MONTHLY BULLETINS

A comprehensive Bulletin is produced each month (except December) containing current information relevant to the Club`s activities. This is distributed to members by email.
