The meeting was opened by President, Janet Medley at 10.04, with a welcome to 53 members and two visitors. There were 8 apologies.

Delegates Report – Betty Ferguson reported the friendship lunch as very successful event with over 90 attending. Also reported on the preliminary planning for the 50th anniversary of Probus in Australia in 2026 and asked for ideas. She reminded the Club to select a Probian of the year for the Club and nominate anyone for the overall award.
New clubs are being formed in Bungendore and Yarralumla.
Reminder of the Fun and games day at the Belconnen Bowling Club on Friday October 3.
Friendship Diane Parker made mention of friendship contacts including to the Hine’s.

Cameo
Trish Ford volunteered from the floor to do the Cameo. She talked about her family journey from Ireland to Australia, Australia to Ireland and back again and about her childhood and education in Grenfell and leaving school at 14 to work and eventually becoming a nurse and her career and life since then in country Australia.
Guest Speaker: Melissa Waring the Community Engagement Officer from Roundabout ACT.
Melissa talked about her own journey to Canberra and her beginning work as the first employee of Roundabout and how her work dovetailed with the mission of the organisation. Basically, Roundabout start as a volunteer organisation to recycle baby goods to families in need and how it now offers services to children up to 16. She gave an overview of the work of volunteers set in the context of volunteering as a social connection and how volunteers encourage volunteering among others.
