        Activities & Guest Speakers for 2025

Planned activities to help achieve the goals of fun, friendship in retirement are an important part of the Probus Club of Newmarket. An Activities Officer co-ordinates club members’ activities usually held on the fourth Wednesday of the month.  While being flexible, a draft program is prepared for each year.

March

  • Wednesday March 19th - Newmarket Probus AGM

  • Guest Speaker - Wednesday March 19th - Thom Blake, local Historian.

  • Wednesday March 26th - Visit to 11th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary art at Goma and the Art Gallery.

April

  • Guest Speaker - Wednesday April 9th - Franco-Australian Bridges of Friendship —Anzac week 2024 in the Somme - Michele Endicott.

  • Wednesday April 23rd: Heritage Walk at Samford (30 mins) then to Lifestyle Centre for lunch using own transport

May

  • Guest Speaker - Wednesday May 14th - Jessica Vanvonderan from the ABC

  • Wednesday May 28th: Bus trip -TBA - Probably Mt Tamborine Botanic Gardens

June

  • Guest Speaker Wednesday 12th -“Vodka in a Vegemite Jar” - Trevor Hamley

  • Wednesday June 25th: Fish and Chips at Sandgate

July

  • Wednesday July 23rd Train trip to Landsborough, 

    then lunch at the Landsborough Hotel (to be confirmed)

August

  • Wednesday August 27th: Happy 20th Birthday, Newmarket Probus Club, venue TBA


There are also special interest groups who organise their own activities.  Currently there is a walking group, a book club and a Sunday lunch group who meet at venues suggested by members. More details of these groups are outlined in the club Newsletter.
