Each year, usually in November, a five- or six-day Getaway is arranged where the Members visit a location away from Melbourne where they can enjoy similar activities and have the opportunity through fellowship to develop acquaintances and friendships. Our planned Getaways during 2020 and 2021 were cancelled because of Covid but highly successful Getaways before that included visits to:

  • Creswick
  • Albury/Wodonga
  • Canberra
  • Lakes Entrance
  • Adelaide
  • Launceston

A smaller or Mini-Getaway, which is normally less structured and usually of four days duration is arranged earlier in the year ie usually around March or April.

Within Covid constraints we have managed to hold several Mini-Getaways in the last few years including visits to:

  • Hamilton in Western Victoria
  • Creswick in central Victoria
  • Beechworth in Northern Victoria

Some examples of events and activities are shown.

During April 2021 we visited Heide Museum of Modern Art in Bulleen Melbourne. The House Museum occupies the site of a former dairy farm owned by prominent arts benefactors John and Sunday Reed. Heide became the gathering place for a collective of young modernist painters known as the Heide Circle which included Sidney Nolan, John Percival, Albert Tucker and Joy Hester. Today they rank among Australia's best known artists.
