Activity Groups

“Fun, friendship and fellowship”

All members and prospective members are welcome to attend any of the activities listed below.




The BBQ is organised every two months on Thursdays at Bagnalls Beach Reserve (off the roundabout). Roll up at 11:00-11:30am for lunch about 1pm or whenever the cooks get themselves organized. Members and guests are advised to bring own table, chairs, picnic basket, drinks and accompaniments etc. Steak, sausages and onions supplied at a cost, currently $8.00 each.



Annual one-week trip to a caravan park, normally planned at a park with cabins to cater for members who do not have a caravan.



Regular social events including lunches or dinners at local restuarants, outings to the theatre or attractions, and themed celebrations.



The Inter-club Bowls group is for experienced bowlers and meets periodically to attend some of the regular Gala Days throughout the region.



The Mixed Bowls group meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at Soldiers Point Bowling Club. Come along around 9:15am for a 9:30am for a friendly and fun activity. You don’t have to be a bowler. Flat soled shoes, please.



The Programs Officer organizes a guest speaker for the monthly General meeting. Members are invited to volunteer as a guest speaker concerning their life experiences or other topics of interest. Members’ wives/husbands/partners are welcome to attend any meeting to listen to a Guest Speaker that interests them.



The snooker group play at 1:00pm every Tuesday, except for two weeks over Christmas, at Nelson Bay Seniors Community Hall, Norburn Avenue, Nelson Bay.



The walking group explores the magnificent local scenery with largely easy walks that are planned to finish with a coffee. The group convenes every two weeks on Wednesday mornings and is a great way to view and appreciate our natural surroundings, as well as make new friends with like-minded people.
