Welcome to the Men's Probus Club of Healesville!
The Probus Club of Healesville Inc is a non-political, non-sectarian, non-fund-raising men’s club which seeks to provide fellowship, fun and friendship for men of good character, who have retired or are in semi-retirement.
Meetings
We meet on the third Thursday of the month in St Brigid’s Parish Hall at the corner of Ryrie and High Streets, Healesville (Melway map ref 278 B2), from 9:30 am until 11:30 am.
Monthly meetings take the form of a 30-minute formal meeting (well, it's meant to be formal!), covering reports by Activity Leaders and Committee members, followed by morning tea and a guest speaker. The only month in which there is no guest speaker is March, when the Club holds its Annual General Meeting instead.
NOTE: No meetings are held during January. However, we all get together for an informal BBQ on the third Thursday.
Activities
Apart from the monthly meeting, members can participate in a range of activities during the month, including:
- Singing in a choir
- Fishing
- Music appreciation
- Theatre visits
- Tours and outings to a wide range of sites
- Walking (two groups)
A monthly Bulletin is also issued to members with details of coming events, amongst other news.
The men’s group often joins one or both of the two Ladies’ Probus Clubs in Healesville for combined outings where appropriate.
Fees
The joining fee is $20.00 and there is an annual subscription of $50.00. It is hoped that, as membership grows, the membership fee can be reduced. $5.00 is also payable at each monthly meeting to cover morning tea and other expenses such as Hall hire, however guests are not required to pay this for their first two visits.
