Offline (Real World) and Telephone  Scams

At the moment, scam telephone calls are all too common. Telstra calling you about a bill? Probably not. Microsoft calling you about a problem with your computer? Highly unlikely. How can you tell? Most likely you pick up the phone, and nobody is there. It's because they're busy scamming others, and their automated equipment just wants to see if you answer "Hello", so they can start on you.

What can you do? Say "That's fantastic. Can you give me a number I can ring you back on?" That question is usually followed by the beep-beep of the call they've abandoned. If they give you a number, call the organisation direct, to check
