Club Formation

The inaugural meeting was held on 27th April, 1987, under the chairmanship of the President of the Rotary Club of Sutherland Civic. 

Following the decision to form the Club, thirty-nine men joined.

The Club was accredited and registered by Probus Centre – South Pacific on 7th August, 1987.  It is incorporated under the provisions of the Associations Incorporation Act.

The Probus Club of Gymea was a Mens Club for 31 years, until the 17th May 2018; when the members voted overwhelmingly at the Club meeting on that day, to welcome ladies into the Club.

Awarded to Luigi (Lou) Ambrose for services to the community, under the patronage of Hon. Scott Morrison MHR.

Lou retired as Club Secretary at the AGM held in August 2020 - after 32 years in the role.

Thank you Lou for your dedication.
