ABOUT US
The first Probus Club was formed in England at Caterham, Surrey in 1967. In 1973 Gordon Roatz visited a Club in Scotland and on his return to New Zealand initiated a Probus Club in the Kapiti district. The first meeting was held on 5th November 1974. This made it the first Probus Club started in the Southern hemisphere, slightly ahead of Australia, South Africa, Argentina and elsewhere.
The Levin Combined Probus Club was founded in October 1995 and this year we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary. Our Club has maintained a steady membership of around 100 members consistently for several years.
Levin serves the local agricultural community with plenty of fresh produce available at roadside stalls. With the Tasman Sea coast on one side and the Tararua ranges on the other, Levin can offer a wide range of outdoor activities. We have mountains, lakes, rivers and beaches all within twenty minutes’ drive of each other.
Levin has become a popular place to retire to.
We welcome new members and if you are interested in joining Probus we would love you to come along to our Club, you will receive a very warm welcome. Our annual subscription is reasonable, currently $25 annually, with interesting speakers and we provide free morning tea.
