CLUB COMMITTEE AND ROLES
Public Officer
Nerida Murray
As an Incorporated Association within New South Wales, the Club is required by the Associations Incorporation Act (NSW) to have a Public Officer to act as the contact person for the relevant regulator of incorporated associations within the state. Note, the Public Officer does not need to be a member of the Committee. The responsibilities of the Public Officer are described in the following document.

What the Committee Does
The role of the Committee is to manage the Club in accordance with the Club’s Constitution, Standing Resolutions and relevant Government legislation. The membership delegate certain authorities to the Committee by resolution. However, the Committee does not have the authority to make other decisions without the approval of members. All of the Committee positions are nominated in accordance with the Club’s Constitution and are duly elected at the Club’s Annual General Meeting. All members are encouraged to consider a role as a Committee member or an Assistant to a Committee member and the Club will provide training to help members who wish to take on a role on the Committee.
Nominations for Committee positions are called for at the February general meeting. Members are encouraged to consider positions and nominate prior to the AGM. Any member may nominate any other member (including themselves), but the nominee must accept the nomination. Nominations may be made using the form attached below, or by email. In the case of email, the person initiating the nomination sends an email to the nominee, proposing their nomination. If the nominee accepts, they simply reply to the email, noting their acceptance and the person who initiated the nomination then forwards this email trail on to the club secretary.
Nominations are called annually for Committee positions:
Executive Committee Members
President
Vice President(s)
Secretary
Treasurer
Additional Office Bearers
Welfare Officer
Guest Speakers Officer
Trips and Tours Officer(s)
Newsletter Editor
Technology Officer
Membership Officer
Deputy Treasurer
House Manager
Members may nominate to be assistants to any of the Committee positions at any time during the year. In the event that multiple nominations are received for a particular position, then an election by the membership may be held - or alternatively, the Committee person may agree to assistance from multiple members. At the end of the year, the current President becomes the Immediate Past President, a position with full voting rights on the Management Committee.
Assistants to the Committee
Offering to help out as an assistant to a Committee member will greatly reduce the burden of running our Club and also give you experience in a position so that you might consider nominating for a Committee position in future and help out in the running of our Club. If you are interested, contact any Committee member at a meeting.
