The Aims of the Club

The aim of the Club is to provide regular meetings for retired professionals, business people and executives who, in their retirement, appreciate and value increased social contacts and opportunities to meet others in similar circumstances.

The emphasis is on a club being:

·           simple in structure;

·           free from the constraints and obligations of service clubs;

·           of minimum cost to members;

·           primarily directed to providing friendship and the opportunity for the development of acquaintance; and

·           open to members who are compatible with one another.

Club Activities

The Club meets on a monthly basis to provide fellowship and hear a guest speaker address the meeting on a topical or interesting subject. Members and guests are welcome to stay after the meeting to continue socialising and join us for lunch at Cazalys (at own cost).

A number of times per year the Club visit places of interest and you will be advised in advanced with place, time and relevant information at the Monthly meeting or via the Newsletter.

The Club also facilitates a number of Special Interest Groups:

·           Dining out at local venues is planned monthly, generally alternating lunch and dinner.  This is usually the fourth Thursday of the month (the week after our meeting)

·           Trivia Night is on the first Wednesday of each month, meeting at 6.30pm for dinner and then 7.30pm for the Trivia Quiz at Cazalys.

·           Movie day is the second Tuesday of each month at Event Cinemas (time depends on the film but is usually early in the day).

·           Golf is on the first Monday of the month at Palmerston Golf Club - 8.30am for an 8.45am tee off. We join with the other local Probus Clubs to play on the second Monday at Marrara (Darwin Golf Club) and third and fourth (and fifth) Mondays at Gardens Golf Club. {Note: In recess during the worst of the wet season.}

·           Gardening group joins with the Darwin Probus Club's gardeners on the second Wednesday of the month at 10.30am. Venues are notified in advance.

·           The Literacy group is still in its infancy, so if you are interested ask for details at a monthly meeting.

We also regularly join with other local Probus Clubs for activities and outings which will be advised in advance at the monthly meeting.
