Presidents Report for January 2024   Robin Hearder.

Welcome back everybody, and I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and Happy New Year with your families and friends. Thank you Wendy for organizing Lamingtons for our January meeting to celebrate Australia Day. We start off 2024 with our traditional Fish & Chips at Toowoon Bay Park on Wednesday 7th February and thanks to Wendy & Jenny B. for sending out the order forms from the excellent Fish & Chips shop over the road.  This is a friendly catchup as some members will still be involved with holidays.

The AGM is due on Tuesday 26th March, and I will again print out  copies of the descriptions of the various Officebearers and Committee positions for next year so that members can think about them, particularly a new President & new Secretary., and how You can help our Happy Club by nominating for a position before the AGM.

We have a new member Coralie Carr to induct in January , and I understand 2 more in February.

Many thanks again to Helen Taylor, Diana Cooney, and Jenny Blair for organizing our fabulous Christmas lunch at Mingara Recreation Club with good food, music from About Face duo, some carols led by Wendy & Rod, a fun pass-the-parcel game from Diana, raffle bags from Diana, Jenny, & Stan, financials by Julie, and MC by Ken. Well done everybody. ! Unfortunately there was a bigger deficit than budgeted for, as some expenses were also overlooked.  The Committee has agreed to go back to Mingara Recreation Club for our Christmas Lunch next year. Our Guest Speaker this month is a return visit by the superb Chinese Brush painter Stephen Cassatari.

For all members who enjoyed reading books over the holidays, please remember to bring used books along for our Book Swap Table.

WELFARE  - Margaret Mahoney

Welcome back everyone.

I had no news of anyone being sick over the holidays except me. I got Covid 2 days after Christmas

and I don’t wish it on anyone.

Jim Wade who has not been well has improved which is good to hear.

Bill Daniell is not so lucky from his fall last year. He is still in a lot of pain and we wish him well.

Stan Taylor had a cancer cut off his foot and skin graft and has to be off his feet for a while.

Unfortunately Ron Massey still has his arm in a sling and in a lot of pain. Seeing specialists this week

 with a view to surgery.
