On our arrival at the Norman Lindsay we were welcomed by guides Nikki and Wendy who escorted us to the courtyard of the property where we had a mouthwatering morning tea.
While the nineteen ladies and one gentleman were enjoying morning tea Nikki spoke about Norman Lindsay’s childhood, working life, marriage and affairs! We also learnt that not only did Norman Lindsay paint, but he was a writer of novels and children’s books, he made ship models, garden sculptures, pen drawings and etchings many of which are in the gallery and grounds.
We were fortunate to have Nikki as our guide as she was such a fountain of knowledge. I’m sure we came away knowing more about Norman Lindsay and his contribution to the art world.
It was then time to move on to lunch which we had at the Faulconbridge Chinese restaurant. We enjoyed a pleasant meal in a very relaxed atmosphere.
We returned to Bathurst and, despite the weather, we had a very enjoyable day.
Thanks to Gay, Jocelyn and Pauline who made yummy slices for morning tea.
